Luke\u2019s work as a theatre director and performance maker has\nembraced Love and the Revolution<\/em> with\nthe Berliner Ensemble, The Golem<\/em> with\nTheater Brostowska in Prague and Bratislava, Age of the Saints<\/em> in Dublin, the British tour of No\u00ebl\nCoward\u2019s Brief Encounter<\/em>, UK\nproductions of Jonson\u2019s Bartholomew\nFair<\/em> and the musicals Blood\nBrothers<\/em>, Jesus Christ Superstar<\/em> and Oliver<\/em>, Annie Sprinkle and Beth\nStephens\u2019 Blue Wedding<\/em> in\nOxford, A Midsummer Night\u2019s Dream<\/em> in\nSouth Africa, Sweetness & Light<\/em> in\nLondon and Colchester, A Summer of\nEcosex <\/em>in France and England, and Mulheres de Shakespeare<\/em> in Brazil.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He established the ground-breaking Deal Theatre Project www.dealtheatreproject.co.uk<\/a> in the small English seaside town which through the 1980s created astonishing site specific performances mobilising the entire community.<\/p>\n\n\n

In London the devised site specific pieces have included\nSinging the Body Electric<\/em> (Serpentine\nGallery), It\u2019s a Wonderful Life<\/em> (Marylebone\nStation), The Cherry Orchard<\/em> (Conway\nHall), and Chasing the Butterfly<\/em>\n(National Portrait Gallery).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

His productions for theatre nomad<\/a><\/strong>, of which he was Artistic Director for 20 years, included all-female versions of Macbeth<\/em> and Hamlet<\/em>, cross-dressed productions of Duke Bluebeard\u2019s Castle<\/em>, A Midsummer Night\u2019s Dream<\/em>, Twelfth Night<\/em> and As You Like It<\/em>, and an erotic celebration of Anita Berber in Triumphant Desire<\/em>. These productions have been seen in China, North America, South Africa, Germany, France, Poland, Russia, Czech and Slovak Republics, Spain and the UK.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
