The summer of The Winter’s Tale was the year of the 90th birthday of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother, Lord Warden of The Cinque Ports. As Lord Warden, Walmer Castle was one of her residences. The Project decided to celebrate her birthday and thank her for her kindness in opening up the castle to our productions with a one-off birthday event – The Seven Ages of Ma’am. A script was written, actors were cast, the band of The Royal Marines who were headquartered in the town put on their uniforms and made music. Hundreds came to witness and picnic on the grass.
